Ageing Well at The Wimbledon Guild

Our Ageing Well programme is an innovative new initiative that will support older people to meet their personal aspirations so they can continue to live independently with confidence.

Enjoy life your way

There is an expanding range of activities and classes for you at the Guild and around the borough offering opportunities to revive an old interest, join a new club, see your friends and make some new ones.

We asked our existing customers what activities they would like and our new timetable reflects their input. There are new clubs, outings and opportunities. And now we can offer you a “bespoke” service enabling you to once more enjoy an activity, for more information take a look at our Activities page for more information.

The team also has information about all possible transport options available to you, including our own Guild minibuses. Our volunteers are happy to travel with you to help build your confidence.

The new, welcoming, Guild Café at Guild House is open every weekday 10am - 4pm offering a warm, comfortable and relaxing place to enjoy a coffee or tea with a tempting range of cakes and snacks or a hot meal. It’s the ideal place to catch up with friends or just enjoy reading the paper or a magazine.

See useful links below for the MENU .

Get the most out of life

The Ageing Well service enables us to broaden our sphere of work, and we can now visit you in your own home to assess your requirements. Our team will listen to you to understand your needs and concerns and help you to find solutions. They can check that you are receiving all the appropriate benefits and help you with any form filling or connect you with someone who can offer specialist advice.

We work with a number of local voluntary and community organisations to help you live safely in your home as well as getting out and about.

If you, or someone you know, has recently undergone a major change in life e.g. a bereavement or serious illness we are now able to offer a free in-depth programme to help you reorganise or take control of your life. If you are interested in the programme, one of our team will come to visit you to talk about what you would like to achieve in order to live more independently and get the most out of life.

Over the course of 10-12 weeks, we will visit you at home or at The Wimbledon Guild to work with you to find out what best suits your needs - this could include enjoying The Wimbledon Guild’s activities as well as connecting you to other organisations that can support you. One of these could be the Guild's own new, bereavement counselling service.

In addition to all of this we are continuing to offer our Befriending service which is now reaching more people than ever across the borough.

We have joined forces with Age UK Merton’s Handyperson Service which can help with odd jobs around the house. To make a booking contact Dawn at Age UK Merton on: 020 8648 5792 or email THST@ageukmerton.org.uk
